Graphite in powdered form behaves very differently from what most people picture when they think of a solid. The individual particles are microscopically fine, small enough to migrate into the gaps between chain plates, rollers, and pins through normal mechanical movement. Once inside, graphite's layered molecular structure causes the particles to adhere to metal surfaces and form a coherent film within the contact zones — not on top of them.
This is dry lubrication in its truest sense: it doesn't flow or drip, it bonds. The principle is far from new — railway systems, aerospace, and heavy industry have relied on graphite-based compounds for over a century, applying it wherever liquid lubricants would fail, freeze, or contaminate.

Graphite is non-toxic, and leaves a very low carbon footprint, with minimal wash-off pollution — advantages that no traditional lubricant can claim, not even those marketed as "bio" or "eco."
